Your MySQL server must accept TCP connections from the Lovable edge. For local databases, expose them via a tunnel (ngrok/Cloudflare Tunnel) or use a cloud MySQL (PlanetScale, Aiven, RDS). Credentials are sent per request and not stored server-side; only host/user/db are cached in your browser.
